FIFA has reduced the prices of certain World Cup tickets for loyal fans of teams, responding to global criticism. Some fans will now have the opportunity to purchase $60 seats for the final, a significant drop from the initial price of $4,185.

This decision marks a rare concession by FIFA and its president, Gianni Infantino, who faced backlash over various World Cup policies, including high ticket prices and perceived alignment with U.S. President Donald Trump. FIFA announced that $60 tickets will be allocated for every match in the tournament, with national federations distributing them to dedicated fans who have supported their teams in previous games.

The “Supporter Entry Tier” category will offer around 400 to 750 $60 tickets per team for each match in the 16 host cities across North America. While FIFA did not provide specific reasons for the pricing adjustment, the organization stated that the lower prices aim to support traveling fans following their national teams.

Despite this move, the Football Supporters Europe group criticized the limited price reduction as merely an attempt to appease public outrage. The upcoming World Cup in North America, featuring 48 teams and expected to generate over $10 billion in revenue for FIFA, is shaping up to be the most expensive tournament for fans.

Following widespread dismay at FIFA’s initial ticketing plans, which excluded participating teams from the lowest-priced category, the organization faced further scrutiny. Despite the recent price adjustments, concerns remain about the overall affordability of tickets for fans, with many still facing high costs compared to previous tournaments.
