“Finalists Announced for CBC Music Class Challenge 2026”

The finalists for the CBC Music Class Challenge powered by MusiCounts spring 2026 edition have been announced. Participants have the chance to win gold record award plaques and MusiCounts grants to acquire musical instruments and equipment for their schools or organizations. The first-place winners in each category will receive $2,000 worth of new musical instruments from MusiCounts along with plaques for the top three placements.

The categories include mitêh Elementary Performance (kindergarten to Grade 4), mitêh Intermediate Performance (grades 5-8), mitêh Senior Performance (grades 9-12), Original Elementary Performance (kindergarten to Grade 4), Original Intermediate Performance (grades 5-8), and Original Senior Performance (grades 9-12).

The winning classes will be announced on May 29. Congratulations to all the classes that made it to the finals, and a big thank you to the teachers, musicians, and schools that participated.

In the mitêh Elementary Performance category, finalists include Brown Junior Public School (Brown School Primary Panthers), Capitol Hill Elementary School (Capitol Hill Elementary Div. 8-12), Central Montessori School, École Chinook Park School, École Robb Road Elementary, Irvine Elementary School, Rundle College, St. Patrick Fine Arts Elementary, and Willow River Public School, among others.

For the mitêh Intermediate Performance category, schools like Capitol Hill Elementary School, École Anne Hathaway Public School, École J.B. Mitchell School, Hazel McCallion Sr. PS, and others have made it to the finals.

Lastly, in the mitêh Senior Performance category, finalists include schools like Brookfield High School, Cardinal Carter Catholic High School, Centennial Secondary School, Dr. G.W. Williams SS, Gordon Bell High School, Lotus Centre for Special Music Educ., Saint Patrick Secondary, Unionville High School, and more.

In the Original Elementary Performance category, schools like Dr. E. W. Coffin School, Faraday School, Gitwinksihlkw Elementary School, Isaac Brock School, and others have showcased their talents with original songs.

For the Original Intermediate Performance category, schools like Betty Huff Elementary, Carlyle School, Central French Immersion Public School, Douglas Park Elementary School, and others have impressed with their original compositions.

And in the Original Senior Performance category, schools like Austin O’Brien High School, Bishop Marrocco/Thomas Merton CSS & RAC, Eastwood Collegiate Institute, Father Leo J Austin CSS, Glendale SS, Huron Heights SS, Korah Collegiate, Ptarmigan Arts BC, Vancouver College, and more have displayed their creativity with original songs.

The CBC Music Class Challenge is a platform that celebrates the musical talents of students across Canada, and the results will be eagerly awaited by participants and music enthusiasts alike.
