Former Toronto Raptor Jontay Porter has officially joined the Seattle SuperHawks for the upcoming 2026 season of the United States Basketball League (USBL). The USBL, a minor professional basketball league, is set to relaunch this spring with a total of eight teams.
Porter, a six-foot-10 forward, is making a comeback to the professional basketball scene after being permanently banned by the NBA in April 2024 due to violations of the league’s gambling regulations. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver revealed that Porter had shared confidential information with bettors and placed bets on NBA games, including those involving his former team, the Toronto Raptors.
During the 2023-24 season, Porter, aged 26, showcased his skills with the Raptors, averaging 4.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists across 26 games before the investigation into his misconduct came to light.
The USBL, known as the “League of Opportunity,” ran from 1985 to 2008 and served as a platform for more than 150 players to transition to the NBA before suspending operations.
Seattle is gearing up to commence its home games on March 7 against the Lilac City Legends, marking the debut of Porter with the SuperHawks on the same night.
