Former High-Performance Director of Sail Canada, Mike Milner, has received a four-month suspension as part of the national Abuse-Free Sport Program. The sanction was officially recorded on Jan. 8 on a public register maintained by the Office of the Sports Integrity Commissioner.

Sail Canada released a statement on Tuesday confirming that Mike Milner departed from the organization in September 2024 and is no longer affiliated with them in any capacity. The Office of the Sport Integrity Commissioner imposed an individual sanction on Milner for Aiding and Abetting, Neglect, and Psychological Maltreatment after an independent investigation, as detailed on the Abuse-Free Sport Registry.

Although the specific incident leading to the sanction was not disclosed in the registry, Sailing Canada appointed a new high-performance director in the previous year. Milner had served as the high-performance director for Sail Canada for six and a half years.

The responsibility for managing the registry is being transferred from OSIC to Sport Integrity Canada, previously known as the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport. Sport Integrity Canada assumed control of handling complaints and reports of abuse or maltreatment in sports on April 1, 2025, while OSIC continued with ongoing processes. Sport Integrity Canada oversees the implementation of the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS) within the framework of the Canadian Safe Sport Program. The registry functions as a repository of individuals subjected to sanctions or provisional sanctions under the UCCMS.
