The Israeli army is investigating an incident in the West Bank where soldiers fatally shot a 16-year-old Palestinian. This action came after surveillance footage suggested that the teenager was not throwing a brick when he was shot. Palestinian officials identified the victim as Rayyan Mohammad Abu Mualla, who was killed during an Israeli military operation in Qabatiya.

Initially, the Israeli military reported that a terrorist had thrown a block at the soldiers, leading to the fatal shooting. However, CCTV footage showed a different sequence of events, capturing the moment when the victim was shot without any apparent provocation or brick throwing.

The video, sourced from a security camera owner and verified by Reuters, depicts the moments leading up to the shooting, including the military’s arrival at the scene. Abu Mualla’s mother, Ibtihal, lamented that the military took her son’s body away. She refuted claims of her son being aggressive, stating that he did not pose a threat and deserved a dignified burial.

The footage also showed soldiers placing the victim’s body on a stretcher and transporting it in a military vehicle. The incident has sparked controversy and calls for accountability, especially as it adds to the toll of Palestinian minors killed by Israeli forces in recent months.

While Israel maintains that these military operations are necessary to combat Palestinian militants and prevent attacks on Israelis, the shooting has raised concerns about the use of force and the treatment of individuals in the region.
