The Gaza Strip experienced continued attacks from the Israeli military for the fourth consecutive day, resulting in the deaths of three individuals as reported by Palestinian health officials. Despite the ceasefire brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump, Israel persisted with shelling and gunfire in northern Gaza, indicating a strain on the fragile peace agreement. The Israeli military did not provide an immediate response to inquiries from Reuters.

Further casualties were reported, with another Palestinian succumbing to injuries sustained in previous Israeli attacks, according to the Palestinian WAFA news agency. The ceasefire, facilitated by the U.S., faces challenges as unresolved issues such as the disarmament of Hamas and a clear timeline for Israeli withdrawal from Gaza persist. Recent violence flared up following Israeli retaliatory bombings, resulting in over a hundred reported deaths in Gaza.

Gaza’s Health Ministry confirmed the reception of 30 bodies of Palestinians killed in the conflict by Israel, following Hamas’ release of two hostages. As part of the ceasefire terms, Hamas freed all living hostages in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners and detainees by Israel, as well as a commitment to cease hostilities and provide increased aid.

Hamas agreed to transfer the remains of deceased hostages in return for the return of Palestinian militants killed in the conflict. Despite ongoing efforts, not all bodies have been repatriated, leading to accusations from Israel of Hamas delaying the process and violating the ceasefire. The prolonged conflict in Gaza, which began in October 2023 after Hamas-led attacks on southern Israel, has resulted in significant casualties and destruction, with over 68,000 Palestinians killed and the region left in ruins.

The situation underscores the challenges in maintaining peace in the region and the complexities involved in reaching a lasting resolution to the conflict.
