The 52-year-old was discovered deceased in an Athens hotel, with Greek authorities indicating that initial findings pointed to a suspected suicide with no indications of foul play. Eden was in Greece for the filming of the fourth season of the popular show.
Described as a leading figure in Israel’s television industry, Dana Eden played a pivotal role in the development and success of several significant productions within the broadcasting corporation, according to a statement from KAN. The cause of her death was not disclosed, but KAN expressed deep sorrow for her loss and emphasized her profound impact on the industry.
Addressing speculations, Eden’s production company, Donna and Shula Productions, refuted rumors of criminal involvement in her passing through a statement on Facebook. The company urged respect for Dana’s dignity and the privacy of her loved ones during this difficult time.
Israel’s Culture and Sports Minister Miki Zohar mourned Eden’s death on social media, praising her as a prominent and influential figure in the Israeli television landscape. Zohar highlighted her contributions to Israeli storytelling on the global stage with talent and courage.
“Tehran,” which debuted in Israel and on Apple TV in 2020, follows the story of Tamar Rabinyan, a Mossad operative on a mission to disrupt the Iranian nuclear reactor. The series clinched the best drama series title at the 49th International Emmy Awards in November 2021. Dana Eden’s career in TV production began in the 1990s, with notable works such as the comedy “Yom Haem” and the crime drama “Magpie” before achieving international recognition with “Tehran.” In 2018, her show “Saving the Wildlife” received the best TV magazine for children and youth award from the Israeli Television Academy.
