Jets’ star winger, Kyle Connor, has agreed to a significant eight-year contract extension with the Winnipeg team, worth $96 million in total ($12 million per year). The new deal will come into effect next season, succeeding his current contract.
This extension marks the largest contract in the history of the Jets organization. Approximately two years ago, the team also secured seven-year deals for forward Mark Scheifele and goalie Connor Hellebuyck, each valued at $8.5 million per year.
A first-round pick for the Jets in the 2015 NHL draft, 28-year-old Connor has established himself as a top scorer in the league. His impressive performance last season included 41 goals, 56 assists, and a defensive rating of plus-17. Leading the team with 97 points, he ranked seventh in the league overall.
During the post-season, Connor played all 13 games for the Jets, contributing significantly with 17 points, 12 assists, and five goals. His exceptional season earned him a spot on the NHL first all-star team.
Since joining the NHL full-time in 2017-18, Connor has consistently scored over 30 goals in seven seasons and surpassed 60 points six times. With 582 points in 613 career NHL games, including 284 goals and 298 assists, he has proven to be a dynamic player on the ice.
In 2022, Connor was awarded the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy for his outstanding sportsmanship and high-level playing ability.
