Starting this weekend, four local music radio programs are set to reach a national audience on a weekly basis for the first time. The shows include the “East Coast Music Hour,” Toronto’s “Big City, Small World,” B.C.’s “Vibin’,” and Alberta’s “Key of A.” These programs will be broadcast on CBC Music from 8 p.m. to midnight local time (8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. NT) every week starting October 12, offering listeners across the country a glimpse into the diverse music scenes of these regions.

Each show has its unique offerings, with “Big City, Small World” kicking off the lineup at 8 p.m. The host, Errol Nazareth, curates a one-hour captivating show that celebrates musicians, playwrights, and authors from Toronto’s multicultural communities. The program delves into themes of immigrant experiences, identity, and the quest for belonging in the world, resonating strongly with Nazareth’s diverse background.

“East Coast Music Hour,” airing at 8:54 p.m., is hosted by Bill Roach and showcases the rich musical tapestry of the Atlantic provinces, sharing both songs and stories from the region. The show also features the “On Air” series, launched in 2023, dedicated to live recordings from East Coast artists, including unique collaborations and covers of beloved East Coast songs.

At 9:48 p.m., “Vibin’,” hosted by Rohit Joseph, spotlights emerging musical talent from British Columbia across various genres. The show’s inclusive approach incorporates global music influences, emphasizing the cultural connections and inspirations that shape Canadian artists.

Wrapping up the national broadcast at 10:42 p.m. is “Key of A,” hosted by Tarik Robinson, focusing on the diverse music landscape of Alberta. Robinson highlights the wide-ranging musical styles found in the province, from pop and rock to hip-hop and jazz, featuring both established stars like Tate McRae and up-and-coming artists such as K-Riz and Noeline Hofmann.

These radio shows promise a dynamic and engaging musical journey, offering listeners across Canada a unique window into the vibrant music scenes of Toronto, the East Coast, British Columbia, and Alberta.
