Players from the London Nationals came together in their locker room in London, Ontario, to perform a spirited hockey anthem in support of Team Canada’s Olympic aspirations before the men’s Olympic semi-final in Italy on Friday.

The team sang “We Shoot, We Score!”, a hockey-themed song crafted to the melody of the Canadian national anthem. The anthem was composed by Bruce Stock, a seasoned hockey enthusiast from Timmins, Ontario, who felt a national hockey anthem was long overdue.

Stock expressed, “It has always troubled me that we lack a song to honor our beloved sport. This anthem celebrates the skill, speed, and passion that define our love for hockey.”

Competing in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League, the London Nationals recorded their rendition of the anthem after a practice session and are sharing it to rally behind Team Canada as they gear up to face Finland in the semi-final.

Dean Pomerleau shared, “We are privileged to show our support and send our best wishes to the team for the gold medal. It was a fun experience, and we are grateful for the opportunity.”

Stock envisions a scenario where the anthem is sung in arenas nationwide at the start of the third period. “With 2,860 indoor arenas in Canada, just imagine fans standing together and singing. It would be a historic moment for our nation.”

The message from the Nationals was clear: Canada stands united in support, from one rink to another.
