One family in Mount Pearl is experiencing a heartwarming Christmas miracle this holiday season. Micky, a cat who went missing two months ago, has been reunited with his delighted owners. Kayla Gavin, Micky’s owner, shared the joyous news with CBC Radio’s “On The Go.”

Micky, a nearly one-year-old cat, went missing during a rainstorm on October 22. Despite weeks of searching in the vicinity of their home, Micky remained elusive. Gavin expressed the family’s initial despair, believing Micky may never return.

Exactly two months later, Gavin’s daughter received a call from the St. John’s SPCA regarding a cat in their care. The family rushed to the shelter and were overjoyed to find Micky safe and well-fed, despite his prolonged absence.

Remarkably, it was discovered that Micky had found refuge at Paddy’s Pond, where a kind individual living in a cabin had been looking after him. Gavin humorously described Micky’s unexpected “vacation” from home.

In light of this experience, Gavin emphasizes the importance of checking lost pets for microchips and bringing them to shelters for identification. As Micky settles back into his home, enjoying the holiday season perched in his cat tower, Gavin playfully mentions her attempts to keep him away from the Christmas tree.
