Tyler McGregor netted three goals to lead Canada to a dominant 7-0 victory over China in the 2025 Para Cup opener held in Dawson Creek, B.C. Liam Hickey contributed two goals, one of which was short-handed, while Dominic Cozzolino and Micah Kovacevich also found the back of the net for Canada.

Reflecting on the game, McGregor praised his team’s strong start, especially their physical presence and quick lead. He highlighted the satisfaction of scoring two short-handed goals in the first period and commended their continued success throughout the match.

Corbin Watson, making nine saves, achieved a shutout at the Ovintiv Events Centre and marked a significant milestone by becoming the first goalie to reach 100 games for Canada’s national Para hockey squad. Expressing his gratitude, Watson emphasized the honor of being part of the team and program for an extended period.

In another match on Sunday, the United States secured a 3-1 victory over the Czech Republic in the tournament featuring four teams. Canada is set to face the Czech team on Monday at 1 p.m. ET in the upcoming fixture.
