The individual who was fatally shot by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in Minneapolis has been identified as Renee Nicole Macklin Good, a 37-year-old mother of three who had recently moved to Minnesota. Good, a U.S. citizen born in Colorado, had no history of law enforcement issues beyond a traffic violation.

Contrary to the Trump administration’s portrayal of Good as a domestic terrorist who supposedly tried to ram federal agents with her vehicle, her family, friends, and neighbors remember her as a gentle and kind-hearted person. Good, along with her six-year-old son and wife, had recently relocated from Kansas City, Missouri, to a peaceful residential neighborhood in Minneapolis.

Following her tragic death, neighbors refrained from speaking to the media, with one household displaying a sign requesting no media inquiries and calling for justice for Renee. On social media, Good described herself as a poet, writer, wife, and mother, expressing her joy in experiencing Minneapolis.

Video footage captured the moment when an ICE officer fired shots at Good’s vehicle after she allegedly attempted to drive away from them. The incident sparked controversy, with local officials and protesters disputing the Trump administration’s self-defense narrative.

Described by her ex-husband as a devoted Christian and a creative individual, Good had a passion for writing, won a literary prize in 2020, and hosted a podcast with her late second husband. Her former creative writing teacher at Old Dominion University praised her caring nature and outward-focused writing style.

Good, survived by her children from previous marriages, was remembered by her mother as a compassionate individual who cared for others throughout her life. A crowdfunding effort for Good’s surviving family members had raised nearly $1.5 million by Friday morning, with supporters remembering her as a beacon of love and positivity.

Overall, Renee Nicole Macklin Good’s tragic death has touched the hearts of many, highlighting the need for unity, love, and peace in society.
