Researchers in northern Nova Scotia are still investigating the cause of death of a large great white shark that washed up near Pictou recently. The Marine Animal Response Society reported that the 580-kilogram male shark was found on a beach, prompting researchers to conduct a necropsy over the weekend.

Dr. Laura Bourque from the Canadian Wildlife Health Co-operative in P.E.I. mentioned that no clear cause of death was determined during the initial examination, and further testing is required. Conservation efforts have contributed to the recovery of the great white shark population after a significant decline in the 1970s and 1980s. Additionally, experts note that warmer ocean temperatures due to climate change have facilitated the northward migration of certain marine species.
