Neil Young, the renowned folk/rock artist, has recently authored new opinion pieces on his website addressing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Trump administration in the wake of the tragic shooting of Renee Nicole Good.
In a piece titled “America Where Have We Gone?” published on Jan. 8, Young criticized an ICE officer for allegedly shooting a woman in Minneapolis without cause and questioned the agency’s methods compared to traditional police forces.
In a separate post the same day, titled “Another Day,” Young expressed his dismay with the current state of affairs in the U.S., blaming President Trump for what he described as a gradual destruction of the nation. He criticized Trump’s administration, labeling its members as inexperienced, dishonest, and lacking moral compass.
In a third post, “Trump Wants Chaos On the Streets. Who Is ICE? What Qualifications Do They Have?,” Young suggested that ICE might be intentionally fostering chaos in the country to potentially disrupt elections.
This is not the first time Young has voiced his disapproval of Trump. In the past, he released a song called “Big Crime” targeting the president and his administration. Young had also previously taken legal action against Trump for using his song “Rockin’ In the Free World” during his presidential campaign. Additionally, in 2020, Young endorsed Bernie Sanders for president, denouncing Trump as “a disgrace to my country.”
