Kristýna Kaltounková opened the scoring early in the game, with Savannah Norcross sealing the victory with a late goal, and Kayle Osborne securing a shutout as the New York Sirens triumphed over the Vancouver Goldeneyes with a 2-0 win on Wednesday.

Kaltounková, who has now scored in three consecutive matches and four times this season, netted the opening goal just 1:21 into the first period, providing the Sirens (4-0-0-5) with an early lead. The top draft pick this year from Colgate University and the Czech Republic, Kaltounková received an assist from rookie Anna Bargman to beat goalie Emerance Maschmeyer to the glove side.

In the third period, Norcross, a second-year forward, extended New York’s lead to 2-0 with her first career goal at 4:39, assisted by Emmy Fecteau and Kayla Vespa, who both registered their first assists of the season.

Osborne, the sole goalie to start every game this season, made 27 saves to secure the shutout for the Sirens. This marks Osborne’s second shutout of the season and her first since the 4-0 victory over Ottawa in the season opener.

Last season as a rookie, Osborne achieved one shutout against Ottawa in eight starts and 10 appearances. Maschmeyer made 24 saves for the Goldeneyes (2-1-1-5), who are yet to secure a win on the road this season.

Despite several power play opportunities for both teams, New York went 0 for 5 on power plays, while Vancouver was 0 for 4, extending their streak to eight missed opportunities with an extra skater.
