Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have officially ended their 19-year marriage, marking the dissolution of one of the entertainment industry’s most celebrated power couples. A Nashville judge granted the divorce during a hearing on Tuesday, stating that the couple’s agreements on asset division and child custody were adequate. The judge cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce, deeming the continuation of the marriage impractical.

Both Kidman and Urban opted not to attend the hearing, and requests for comments from their representatives went unanswered. Kidman initiated the divorce proceedings in September, a move that surprised many but had been underway for some time. Legal matters concerning assets and custody were resolved on the day of her filing, as required by Tennessee law, which mandates a 90-day waiting period for divorcing couples with minor children.

The former couple, both aged 58, shares two teenage daughters. Kidman is designated as the primary residential parent in the agreement, with plans for the children to continue living in Nashville, their longtime home. The divorce filing indicated that neither parent would seek child or spousal support, and outlined an equitable split of their joint assets.

Kidman and Urban, prominent stars hailing from Australia, met in Los Angeles in 2005 and tied the knot in Sydney the following year. Throughout their relationship, they were a fixture on red carpets, attending prestigious events like the Oscars and the Academy of Country Music Awards. Although they openly discussed some marital challenges, the decision to divorce came as a surprise to many observers.

This was Urban’s first marriage and Kidman’s second, following her union with Tom Cruise from 1990 to 2001. Kidman also has two older children from her marriage to Cruise.
