Olivia Rodrigo organized the first-ever all-female music festival, Daisy Chain Fields, which took place in California over the weekend. The event featured performances by renowned Canadian singers Alanis Morissette and Sarah McLachlan.
Inspired by McLachlan’s ’90s festival, Lilith Fair, Daisy Chain Fields also showcased talents like Chappell Roan and Doechii. During her headlining performance, McLachlan joined Rodrigo on stage to perform their rendition of McLachlan’s hit song “Angel,” dedicated to the late country legend Dolly Parton, with McLachlan praising Parton as the original matriarch of country music.
Rodrigo surprised the audience by inviting Morissette for a special duet of “Ironic,” which was met with enthusiastic cheers from the crowd. Morissette later expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to perform with Rodrigo, emphasizing the power of women taking the lead in the music industry.
The festival’s charitable aspect was highlighted by Rodrigo, who pledged that all net proceeds would benefit organizations supporting women and girls. As reported by Billboard, the event raised an impressive $10 million for various charities, a contribution that was matched by Melinda French Gates, doubling the total amount raised to $20 million. French Gates commended Rodrigo’s initiative, describing her as a driving force for positive change and empowerment for women and girls worldwide.
