Ontario Allocates $75 Million for New Anti-Tariff Ad Campaign in the U.S. Targeting Republican Audience
Ontario has committed $75 million to launch a fresh anti-tariff advertisement in the United States, specifically directed at Republican voters. The ad prominently features an audio clip of former U.S. president Ronald Reagan from 1987 discussing the ineffectiveness of tariffs in the long run.
Premier Doug Ford, an admirer of Reagan, believes that the Republican audience will readily recognize the iconic president and grasp the message that tariffs could ultimately harm Americans. Scheduled to debut this week, the ad will be broadcast on Newsmax and Bloomberg initially. Subsequently, it will air on major networks such as Fox News, Fox Sports, NBC, CBS, CNBC, ESPN, and ABC, along with their local affiliates. Additionally, the ad will be shown on the local stations of Comcast, Spectrum, and Sinclair Group over the next two weeks.
This initiative is part of a series of anti-tariff ads by the Ontario government in the U.S., with a previous campaign emphasizing the enduring partnership between Canada, Ontario, and the United States.
