A warning regarding a well-known sex offender recently released from prison and now residing in Vancouver has been issued by the police.
Randall Hopley made headlines previously when he removed his monitoring device and went missing during his statutory release, eventually being apprehended in Vancouver and sent back to prison.
In November 2023, a 10-day search for him ended when he was discovered at the locked door of the Vancouver Police Department annex on East Cordova Street near Main Street.
Hopley had been serving a six-year sentence for kidnapping a three-year-old child in southeastern British Columbia in 2011, and in 2018, he was released to a halfway house in Vancouver under a 10-year supervision order.

Now 60 years old, Hopley has been granted statutory release after serving two-thirds of his sentence, according to authorities.
The Vancouver Police Department has emphasized the existence of significant reasons to believe that he poses a serious risk to the public and might breach his release terms.
Hopley, standing at five feet nine inches and weighing 150 pounds, must adhere to various conditions, including avoiding areas where children under 16 are likely to be present and refraining from any contact, direct or indirect, with his victims or their families.
