The Toronto Raptors have signed Brandon Ingram to a multi-year contract extension, the NBA team announced Wednesday.
Several media outlets have reported the deal is for three years and $120 million US.
ESPN, which first reported the signing, says the deal includes a player option for 2027-28.
The Raptors acquired Ingram last week before the NBA’s trade deadline in a trade that sent a 2026 first-round pick from Indiana, their own 2031 second-round pick and veterans Bruce Brown and Kelly Olynyk to New Orleans.
“Improving every day is the ethos of our team, and we believe the long-term addition of Brandon improves us greatly,” Raptors general manager Bobby Webster said in a news release.
“We’ve spoken about his elite scoring and playmaking; we’re looking forward to seeing that mesh with the talents we already have on our roster, and we’re thrilled that Brandon wants to be a Raptor as much as we want him here in Toronto.”
Slated to become a free agent at season’s end, has yet to suit up for the Raptors as he continues to recover from a left ankle sprain sustained in early December. He has appeared in just 18 games this season, averaging 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists per contest.
Ingram was an all-star and won the NBA’s most improved player award in the 2019-20 season when he averaged 23.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists over 62 games.
In six seasons with New Orleans, he averaged 23.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.2 assists and shot 47.2 per cent from the field, including 37.2 from three-point range.
A native on Kinston, N.C., Ingram owns career averages of 19.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 495 games with the Los Angeles Lakers and New Orleans.
He was picked second overall by the Lakers in the 2016 NBA draft following one season at Duke where he was the ACC freshman of the year.
Ingram was scheduled to speak at a news conference before Wednesday’s home game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
