Jannik Sinner emerged victorious in the final clash of the intense “Sincaraz” rivalry in 2025. The second-seeded Sinner defeated the top-seeded Carlos Alcaraz 7-6 (4), 7-5 at the ATP Finals on Sunday, marking their sixth encounter this year as the dominant forces in men’s tennis.

Sinner successfully defended his title in front of his home crowd in Italy, securing only his second win against Alcaraz this year, with the first being at the Wimbledon final. Expressing his joy, Sinner described the season as incredible and particularly special to finish in such a way amidst his Italian supporters.

Although Alcaraz had already clinched the year-end No. 1 ranking, this was his first final appearance at the prestigious event featuring the top eight players. Despite Sinner’s recent victory, Alcaraz maintains the lead in their head-to-head matchups at 10-6.

The two tennis stars have notably faced off in the last three Grand Slam finals, with Alcaraz triumphing at the French Open and the U.S. Open, while Sinner claimed victory at Wimbledon. They also competed in the Italian Open and Cincinnati Open finals this year, with Alcaraz emerging victorious in both encounters.

During the trophy ceremony, Alcaraz expressed his readiness for future battles with Sinner, to which Sinner responded optimistically, hoping for more intense matchups ahead. Notably, Sinner also secured a win at the Australian Open, adding to his major victories this year, with Alcaraz also claiming two major titles.

The final match witnessed a supportive crowd rallying behind Sinner, with chants and visuals depicting him as a revered figure. Sinner’s resilience in saving a crucial set point and his strategic play during the match were key to his success. Alcaraz, despite receiving treatment for a thigh issue, commended Sinner’s performance and the intensity of the game.

In a thrilling conclusion, Sinner sealed the victory by breaking Alcaraz’s serve, leading to an emotional celebration on the court. With a focus on improving his serve, Sinner showcased his prowess with aces but also faced challenges with double faults. The win marked Sinner’s impressive tenth consecutive victory at the finals without dropping a set, extending his unbeaten streak on indoor hard courts to 31 matches.

Additionally, in the doubles final, Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten secured a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski. The ATP Finals concluded with a display of exceptional talent and sportsmanship, setting the stage for future thrilling encounters in the world of men’s tennis.
