When Savannah Rose Kulla-Davies left to meet her ex-partner on Tuesday, her father was unaware that it would be their final encounter.

In an interview with CBC Toronto on Friday, he expressed deep sorrow over the loss of his daughter, stating, “I miss her terribly, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.”

The tragic incident occurred in the parking lot of a Brampton plaza where Kulla-Davies, 29, was fatally shot by her ex-partner, Anthony Deschepper, 38. Following the shooting, Deschepper abducted their 17-month-old daughter, triggering an Amber Alert. He was later shot by police at a gas station in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

According to Davies, the events leading up to the incident seemed like any other ordinary day for Kulla-Davies.

Her brother, Spencer Porter, revealed that she stopped by Starbucks before heading to the Brampton plaza to meet Deschepper. Today, the plaza is adorned with flowers in her memory.

Kulla-Davies intended for Deschepper to spend time with their daughter during their meeting, showcasing her compassionate nature, as her father described, “That probably shows a bit of Savannah’s character. Even though they were not together, she still wanted to make her daughter available to the girl’s father.”

‘She loved being a mom’

Before becoming a devoted mother of four children, Kulla-Davies pursued her passion for dance and worked as a social worker for Peel Region.

Her father emphasized her love for motherhood, stating, “She decided that motherhood was going to be her thing. And that’s what she’s done very successfully.”

Three of her children were from a previous relationship, while her youngest, the subject of the Amber Alert, was found safe. Davies mentioned that their family intends to seek guardianship of the youngest child in court.

Reflecting on Kulla-Davies’s legacy, Davies expressed his commitment to ensuring her daughter knows about her mother’s kindness and caring nature, affirming, “She’ll ask her brothers, and they’ll back that up too, because they loved her as well.”

Despite the demands of raising four children, Porter highlighted Kulla-Davies’s unwavering support for those around her.

He described her as always kind and supportive, stating, “She was always so nice to everybody, so sweet to everybody, always would have my back with anything. If I needed anything, she would still be there for me if I needed her to be there for me.”

Expressing their deep longing for her return, Davies concluded, “We all miss Savannah so much, we all love her so much, and we just wish she could come home, really.”

The fatal shooting of Savannah was not the first time Anthony allegedly brandished a firearm in her presence.

Prior to the tragic incident, Deschepper faced firearm charges stemming from a 2023 incident in Brampton, with Kulla-Davies as the complain
