Train derails in northwest Regina

A cargo train derailed in northwest Regina on Thursday, blocking traffic for several hours.

Traffic was initially blocked at 1st Avenue North to Mikkelson Drive, as well as the Dorothy Street crossing between Read Avenue and Fulton Drive.

Regina Police are now reporting that traffic has resumed at all rail crossings. 

In a statement to CBC News, CN Rail said that the train was transporting empty rail cars, and that no fires or leaks occurred. No injuries have been reported.

CN Rail is investigating the cause of the derailment.
