Some areas of Prince Edward Island are bracing for another round of wintry weather starting Wednesday afternoon. Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Prince County, warning of a mix of snow, ice pellets, freezing rain, and rain expected to start on Wednesday afternoon and persist through Thursday.

Queens County also received a special weather statement on Tuesday morning, but it was lifted by the afternoon. The statement for Prince County highlights the potential for an extended period of freezing rain overnight on Wednesday, with a transition to rain anticipated by Thursday morning. The freezing rain could last approximately four hours, leading to slippery and dangerous travel and walking conditions.

Environment Canada cautions that ice accumulation on trees and utility infrastructure may result in damage or potential power outages. Residents in the affected area are advised to prepare for possible school closures or activity cancellations and to consider adjusting travel arrangements in advance.
