WRPS looking for driver after reports of person hanging out of fast car, screaming

Police are looking to identify a driver after reports that a person was seen yelling for help from a moving car.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service said in a news release there were reports of a car driving fast in a parking lot with the passenger door open. Police say a witness told officers they saw a child’s arm hanging out of the car and heard the child yelling for help.

Police provided an update saying they now believe the passenger involved was an adult and the person exited the vehicle safely.

Police were called to a parking lot in the Highland Road West and Ira Needles Boulevard area of Kitchener Friday at 5:30 p.m., police said.

Police say the car involved was a white two-door convertible with a black top.

“Investigators continue to seek the public’s assistance in determining the identity of the driver and passenger involved,” police said in the updated media release. “The investigation remains ongoing.”
