A suspect was apprehended for questioning regarding the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie after the FBI publicized surveillance footage showing a masked individual with a gun holster outside her residence on the night she went missing in Arizona. Subsequently, a man claimed to have been interrogated and subsequently released, although official confirmation of his release is pending.

Law enforcement officers detained the individual during a traffic stop south of Tucson, as reported by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, which did not disclose further details about the person or the specific location. The FBI directed inquiries to the sheriff’s office.

In a separate development, a Phoenix TV station, KNXV-TV, featured an interview with a delivery man who alleged he was detained by police on suspicion of involvement in Guthrie’s abduction. The man, hailing from Rio Rico, maintained his innocence and stated that he was released after several hours, although his account remains unverified.

Authorities, in collaboration with the FBI, conducted a court-approved search at a Rio Rico location, situated an hour’s drive south of Tucson, with the operation anticipated to extend over several hours. Nancy Guthrie vanished on February 1, sparking a nationwide intrigue. Law enforcement efforts had appeared stalled until the recent developments.

FBI Director Kash Patel indicated that the masked individual seen in the footage seemed to have interfered with the camera system but the presence of a gun in the holster was not definitively established. The retrieved videos were salvaged from back-end systems after strenuous efforts by investigators to retrieve lost or corrupted data.

Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance is believed to be a forced abduction from her residence near Tucson, last seen on January 31 and reported missing the subsequent day after failing to attend church. Initial hopes pinned on surveillance cameras were thwarted by the disconnection of the doorbell camera early on the day of disappearance.

Family videos and public appeals by Savannah Guthrie and her siblings have marked the ongoing emotional turmoil and desperate plea for information on the whereabouts of Nancy Guthrie, a woman requiring daily medical attention due to underlying health conditions. The family’s outreach to potential kidnappers and the public has underscored the urgency and uncertainty surrounding the case.

Law enforcement has refrained from confirming the credibility of ransom notes or any direct contact with the abductors, maintaining a stance of seriousness in investigating all leads. As the nation awaits developments, the family continues to advocate for Nancy Guthrie’s safe return and implores any individuals with pertinent information to come forward.
