The Seattle Torrent secured a 6-4 victory over the Toronto Sceptres, breaking a three-game losing streak. Lexie Adzija’s short-handed goal in the third period turned the tide in Seattle’s favor, marking the team’s first short-handed goal of the season. The Torrent’s stellar performance set a franchise record with six goals in a single game, tying for the highest-scoring game in the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) this season. The game witnessed a total of 10 goals, the most in any PWHL match this season.
Seattle’s offensive prowess was on full display, with Jessie Eldridge contributing a goal and two assists, and Hannah Bilka adding a goal and an assist. Hilary Knight, Julia Gosling, and Megan Carter, who previously played for Toronto, also found the back of the net for the Torrent. Carter’s goal, her first in the PWHL and Seattle’s first by a defender this season, extended Seattle’s lead to 5-3 in the final period. Goalkeeper Corinne Schroeder made 31 saves to secure the win.
On the opposing side, Toronto saw goals from Blayre Turnbull, Jesse Compher, Kali Flanagan, and Natalie Spooner. Turnbull opened the scoring just 78 seconds into the game, while Compher quickly added another goal to give Toronto an early 2-0 lead. Flanagan later scored her first goal of the season in the second period, leveling the score at 3-3.
Looking ahead, the Sceptres will face the Vancouver Goldeneyes, while the Torrent will play against the same opponent at Ball Arena in Denver as part of the PWHL’s Takeover Tour on Sunday.
