Jesse Minter has been appointed as the new head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, returning to the team where he previously worked under John Harbaugh’s staff. Minter, formerly the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers, takes over the position after Harbaugh’s departure following an 18-year tenure that ended when the Ravens missed the playoffs.
Having spent four seasons with the Ravens from 2017-2020, including a role as the defensive backs coach, Minter’s experience and success in various coaching positions made him a highly sought-after candidate in the market. He had virtual interviews with multiple teams such as the Pittsburgh Steelers before ultimately landing the head coaching job in Baltimore.
Minter expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Ravens, citing the organization’s values, culture, and tradition of excellence in football. Ravens general manager, Eric DeCosta, praised Minter’s leadership qualities and football acumen, highlighting his football family background and success at different levels of the sport.
During his time with the Chargers, Minter contributed to the team’s strong defensive performance, ranking fifth in total defense and allowing the lowest points per game in the league in 2024. His previous coaching stints include a role as the defensive coordinator at the University of Michigan.
The Ravens faced a challenging 2025 season marked by a slow start and significant injuries, ultimately missing out on the playoffs. Despite a late push for the AFC North title, a narrow defeat in a crucial game against the Pittsburgh Steelers resulted in Harbaugh’s departure, who quickly found a new coaching position with the New York Giants.
In a separate development, Robert Saleh has been appointed as the new head coach of the Tennessee Titans, signing a five-year contract with the team. Saleh, previously with the New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers, aims to lead the Titans back to contention after consecutive 3-14 seasons. Titans general manager, Mike Borgonzi, praised Saleh’s qualities as a leader and his ability to navigate adversity, highlighting his fit with the team’s vision for sustainable success.
Saleh inherits a team led by talented rookie quarterback Cam Ward and faces the challenge of rebuilding a roster with potential but multiple gaps. He expressed confidence in the team’s foundation and the people surrounding him as he prepares to lead the Titans in the upcoming seasons.
