It has been a wet week in and around Hamilton, with ongoing rainfall prompting Environment Canada to caution about potential road pooling and water accumulation in low-lying areas. Hamilton, Burlington, Brantford, and the Niagara Region are among the regions in southwestern Ontario receiving this special weather alert issued by the federal weather agency on Thursday. Environment Canada forecasts approximately 20 mm of rain in Halton and Waterdown today, while Hamilton and Niagara may expect 10 to 20 mm. The agency highlighted that the ground, already saturated, may struggle to absorb this additional rainfall.

Although rain and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day, Environment Canada noted that rainfall levels could vary significantly across the region. The agency advised the public to steer clear of low-lying zones and avoid driving through flooded roads. Notably, both the Hamilton Conservation Authority and the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority have not issued any flood warnings for their watersheds.
