Celebrity Big Brother finalist JoJo Siwa has left viewers puzzled after telling housemate Chris Hughes she would speak to him “in 48 hours” — with fans now speculating about what exactly the US star wants to tell him outside of the house. In scenes that aired just days before the final, JoJo was seen having an emotional conversation with Chris as they reflected on their time in the house and the mixed emotions they were feeling after receiving letters from home.
JoJo received a message from her mum, which Chris was tasked with reading aloud. It included a short but pointed update from her partner, Australian actor Kath Ebbs.
The letter read: “The most important thing to tell you is a message from Kath because I know you really miss them the most. Kath’s keen to see you when you get out.”
While that seems like a sweet sentiment, JoJo later admitted to feeling thrown by the wording of Kath’s note. She told Jack P Shepherd: “I honestly like, I’m finding myself really analysing that note and I don’t like it.”
Later in the diary room, JoJo opened up further, saying: “I said goodbye to [Kath] at the airport and it was a really hard goodbye. And then they were the last person I talked to before I gave up my phone for the Big Brother house. God, I love that little sucker. I do.”
Then she voiced her disappointment about what was missing from the message, adding: “I do have beef to pick with them though, they didn’t even say in the note that they love me. I will not let them live that down. I will say, ‘where was my ‘hi sweetheart’, where was my ‘I love you’, where was my ‘I miss you’?’”
After sharing her feelings about the message from Kath, JoJo had a cryptic conversation with Chris where she revealed she had something to tell the Love Island alum in 48 hours. She did not provide any further context, and viewers have been debating over whether she plans to confess her love for him – or simply reconnect with him as a friend after she has provided her partner with some reassurance.
Viewers have been speculating over the nature of Chris and JoJo’s relationship during this entire series of CBB, as the pair have formed a very close friendship and have been seen giving each other massages or even forehead kisses.
Although fellow housemate Ella Rae Wise defended their friendship on Lorraine this morning, protesting “a man and woman can be friends”, many fans are convinced JoJo has fallen for Chris.
One person with this view took to social media to share their interpretation of the 48 hours comment, gushing: “Just caught up on tonight’s CBBUK — that final line from JoJo to Chris: ‘Give me 48 hours’. JoJo is going to declare her love for Chris, isn’t she? OMG.”
But another thought there was a more innocent meaning to the quip. They queried: “Why all the confusion and drama about the 48 hours thing? Surely she was saying she won’t be upset once she’s seen her gf?”
Someone else agreed that JoJo must be referencing needing some alone time with her partner before she can see Chris again, explaining: “She means she’ll tell him when they’re both out of the house. I think she knows her partner is not happy, and that she may have caused a breakdown in the relationship by being too close to Chris, and she wants to discuss that with him but feels like she can’t on TV.”
