Taylor Kirk, the creator of the band Timber Timbre, passed away at the age of 44. A spokesperson for Kirk confirmed the sudden death on April 14. Expressing deep sorrow, the representative stated that Taylor’s legacy will endure through his music. Kirk established Timber Timbre in 2005, debuting with the album “Medicinals” in 2007. The band’s self-titled third album was nominated for the 2009 Polaris Music Prize, while the 2011 release, “Creep on Creepin’ On,” made it to the prize’s shortlist. Timber Timbre’s music has been prominently featured in various films and TV series, such as “Breaking Bad,” “Russian Doll,” and Sarah Polley’s “Stories We Tell.” Described as a crooner with a subtly soothing voice, Taylor Kirk and his band craft haunting and atmospheric songs reminiscent of night-time sounds from a mysterious forest, as highlighted by NPR Music during a Tiny Desk performance. Their music has been likened to the eerie yet captivating tunes one might hear in a David Lynch film or the unsettling depths of HBO’s “True Detective.” Among the songs performed at the Tiny Desk concert were “Run From Me” and “Grand Canyon.” Kirk’s most recent album with Timber Timbre, “Lovage,” was released in 2023, marking his seventh studio album.
