In just two powerful swings, the momentum shifted in Game 2 of the World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays. Will Smith and Max Muncy both hit solo home runs in the seventh inning off Blue Jays ace Kevin Gausman, breaking a 1-1 tie and propelling the Dodgers to a 5-1 victory at Rogers Centre.

Dodgers’ starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto delivered a remarkable performance, pitching a complete game for the second consecutive post-season outing. This achievement marked the first instance since 2001 that a pitcher accomplished back-to-back complete games in the post-season and the first time since 2015 in the World Series.

Yamamoto’s stellar line included nine innings, four hits, one earned run, and eight strikeouts. On the other side, Gausman matched him through six innings, but the pivotal home runs by Smith and Muncy made the difference in the outcome.

Despite Gausman’s strong performance, he expressed dissatisfaction with his outing, acknowledging the impact of the Dodgers’ hitters. The Blue Jays struggled against Yamamoto, who signed a lucrative contract before his MLB debut and has proven to excel in high-pressure situations.

The game now tied at 1-1, the series shifts to Los Angeles for Game 3, with the Dodgers holding the home-field advantage. The Blue Jays aim to secure a win before a potential rematch with the dominant Yamamoto in Game 6.
