SpaceX unveiled its IPO filing, revealing its groundbreaking accomplishments in rocket technology and ambitious plans for Mars colonization and space-based AI data centers. The upcoming listing is anticipated to be the first trillion-dollar U.S. market debut, setting the stage for potential monumental IPOs from tech giants like OpenAI and Anthropic.

The IPO would solidify SpaceX as one of the world’s most valuable publicly traded companies, marking the second entity in Elon Musk’s business empire to surpass a $1 trillion market value. The filing affirmed previous reports on the IPO by Reuters.

Founded in 2002, SpaceX has become the largest space enterprise globally, primarily through launching Starlink internet satellites. Despite its reputation for rocket development and satellite launches, a significant portion of its $18.67 billion revenue last year stemmed from the Starlink satellite internet business. The company’s future growth is heavily reliant on AI-related ventures, although its xAI segment is currently operating at a loss.

If successful, the IPO could value SpaceX at a record-breaking $1.75 trillion, potentially propelling its founder towards becoming the world’s first trillionaire. The regulatory disclosure coincides with a crucial week for SpaceX, as it prepares for the test flight of its next-generation Starship rocket, integral to Musk’s lunar and Mars missions, and the expansion of the Starlink satellite internet service.

Originally scheduled for Tuesday, the test launch is now expected later this week. The company’s board has granted Musk significant control, with much of his compensation tied to ambitious objectives such as establishing a human colony on Mars and developing space data centers with extensive computing capabilities. Musk is set to retain 85.1% of the combined voting power of SpaceX.

SpaceX aims to list its shares around June 12, with a roadshow launch planned for June 4 and the share sale anticipated by June 11, according to Reuters.
