Katelyn Fung and Kate Miller achieved their first international podium finish as a synchronized diving team during the Montreal Diving World Cup. The duo from Ontario delivered their top scores on the last two dives, securing a total of 296.94 points and edging out the Australian competitors. Lu Wei and Zhang Minjie of China clinched the gold medal, while the silver was awarded to Jo Jin Mi and Kim Mi Hwa of North Korea.

Fung, who trains at the National Centre in Montreal despite hailing from London, expressed joy at their accomplishment, attributing it to their hard work and dedication in training. Miller, a student at the University of Southern California, plans to increase her training sessions in Montreal to prepare for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

In their second year as a diving pair, Fung and Miller were elated to win a medal and are optimistic about their future competitions. Miller, originally from Ottawa, aimed to carry the momentum from their success into the women’s individual final the following day.

Additionally, Nathan Zsombor-Murray and Carson Paul competed for the first time as a team in the men’s synchronized three-meter event. Despite narrowly missing the podium by 4.11 points, they finished fourth behind the British duo. The gold medal in this event was secured by Wang Zongyuan and Zheng Jiuyuan of China, with the silver going to Juan Celaya Hernandez and Osmar Olvera Ibara of Mexico.

Both events showcased exceptional performances at the Montreal Diving World Cup, setting the stage for future competitions and achievements.
