Four years after the tragic death of Punjabi rapper Sidhu Moose Wala, fans will have the chance to see him perform once again, this time as a hologram. The late artist’s team has announced the launch of the Signed to God hologram world tour, with the first show set to take place in Toronto on October 8 at Scotiabank Arena.
The hologram tour promises to digitally resurrect the late rapper through 3D holographic projections synced with his original vocals, cinematic visuals, and stage effects, as outlined on the artist’s official website. Moose Wala, born Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, gained fame in 2017 with his hit single “So High” while studying in Brampton, Ontario.
Known for blending bhangra and hip-hop influences, Moose Wala attracted a substantial following, particularly within the Punjabi communities in Canada and the UK. Tragically, he was killed in a shooting incident while driving in Punjab, India, on May 29, 2022, at the age of 28, believed to be a result of an escalating gang rivalry according to Indian authorities.
Despite his controversial persona due to his lyrics’ violent themes, Moose Wala’s music continued to resonate with audiences. Posthumously, his single “Barota” featuring the Kidd and Sweetaj Brar debuted on the Billboard Canada Hot 100 chart at No. 36. His subsequent single “Drippy,” featuring Toronto rapper AR Paisley, also made waves by debuting at No. 9 on the charts.
The Signed to God world tour will include performances in Punjab, London, and Los Angeles, although specific dates are yet to be announced. Tickets for the Toronto show will be available for presale on August 25, followed by a general public release on August 26. While billed as a “first-ever hologram tour,” similar hologram concerts have been seen in Canada before, such as the Rock n’ Roll Dream tour featuring Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly in 2019 and Our Lady Peace’s Wonderful Future Theatrical Experience in 2022, incorporating holographic elements.
