Critics, including former Obama White House communications staff Ben Rhodes, condemned Trump’s actions, highlighting the offensive nature of the post and its implications on race relations. Some Republican figures, such as Senator Tim Scott and Senator Roger Wicker, also denounced the post and called for an apology from the President.
The incident stemmed from a video originally created by a conservative meme maker, portraying Trump as the “King of the Jungle” and depicting various Democratic leaders, including Joe Biden, in a derogatory manner. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed the controversy as “fake outrage” and urged the media to focus on more pressing issues.
Following public outcry, the post was eventually removed by a White House staffer, although it was unclear if any disciplinary action would be taken against the individual responsible. Trump’s history of sharing contentious content on social media, including false claims about Obama and other political figures, has fueled ongoing debates about his rhetoric and actions.
Critics have raised concerns about the Trump administration’s policies, citing instances of removing diversity officers, downplaying Black history, and promoting revisionist views of American history. The President’s persistent claims of election fraud in the 2020 election have also raised alarms among Democrats, who fear potential interference in future elections.
