Canada is set to compete against a familiar opponent for the top prize at the Para Cup. In a dominant performance, Dominic Cozzolino shined with two goals and three assists as the Canadian team secured a spot in the championship game by defeating the Czech Republic 7-0. The United States, after defeating Canada in the round-robin stage, also advanced to the final by thrashing China 13-2 in the semifinals of the four-team tournament held in Dawson Creek, British Columbia.
James Dunn contributed significantly with two goals and two assists in the game against the Czech Republic, while goaltender Corbin Watson made 12 saves to earn a shutout. On the other side, Patrik Sedlacek made 31 saves in a losing effort for the Czech team, which will now face China for the bronze medal.
Cozzolino and Dunn set the tone early by scoring in the first period and each adding another goal in the second period, giving Canada a commanding 5-0 lead after 40 minutes of play. Adam Dixon, Tyler McGregor, and Vincent Boily continued the scoring in the third period to secure a comprehensive victory. The championship match is scheduled for Saturday at 9 p.m. Eastern Time.
