Day 10 of the Milano-Cortina Games witnessed Mikael Kingsbury’s triumph in the dual moguls, sparking hopes for more Canadian success. Canada has strong contenders in short track speed skating, freestyle skiing, and figure skating today.

In short track speed skating, Courtney Sarault, Kim Boutin, and Florence Brunelle will compete in the women’s 1,000m. Sarault, already a silver and bronze medalist in these Games, is a top contender with a successful track record in this event. She faces tough competition from Xandra Velzeboer of the Netherlands and Hanne Desmet of Belgium. Boutin and Brunelle are considered underdogs for a podium finish.

The men’s 500m event will also kick off today, with Will Dandjinou seeking his first individual medal after missing out in previous races. Canada’s Steven Dubois, the reigning world champion in the 500m, is another strong contender.

In freestyle skiing, Megan Oldham and Naomi Urness will participate in the women’s big air final. Oldham, coming off a bronze in slopestyle, surprised with a strong performance in the qualifiers. Urness, leading the World Cup standings, aims to continue her success in big air.

Figure skating will feature Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud in the pairs final round. Pereira and Michaud, unexpected finalists, outperformed more seasoned competitors in the short program. Favorites Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara currently trail behind Germany’s Minerva Fabienne Hase and Nikita Volodin.

The day’s events also include Canada’s women’s hockey semifinal and Rachel Homan’s curling matches. Stay tuned for an exciting day of Olympic action.
