“Canadian Speed Skaters Win Silver in World Cup Team Sprint”

Canadian speed skaters secured a silver medal on the final day of the third World Cup event of the season in the women’s team sprint. The team comprised Brooklyn McDougall from Calgary, Béatrice Lamarche from Quebec City, and Ivanie Blondin from Ottawa, clocking in at a time of one minute and 26.05 seconds in their first team sprint of the season. They trailed the gold medal-winning team from the Netherlands by 0.87 seconds. Poland, matched with the Dutch in the final race, clinched the bronze with a time of 1:26.65.

Ivanie Blondin narrowly missed out on another medal on Sunday, finishing fourth in the women’s mass start event with a time of 8:08.30. The top three spots were claimed by Marijke Groenewoud from the Netherlands (8:07.66), Mia Manganello from the United States (8:07.92), and Ji-Woo Park from South Korea (8:08.28).

In the men’s category, Laurent Dubreuil from Levis, Quebec, secured the sixth position in the men’s 500 meters event. The World Cup speed skating season will resume next weekend in Hamar, Norway.
