The Minnesota Frost, the two-time defending champions, secured a 3-0 victory over the Seattle Torrent as Kelly Pannek netted two goals and Nicole Hensley recorded a shutout in front of a record-breaking women’s hockey crowd of 16,014 at a U.S. arena. This game marked the inaugural home match for the Torrent.

Pannek capitalized on a rebound in the first period, scoring her second goal later in the game, while Grace Zumwinkle contributed a power play goal. Hensley, with 30 saves, showcased a stellar performance for the Frost (1-1-0-0), while Corinne Schroeder, the goalie for the Torrent (1-0-1-0), made 22 saves, despite leading the league with four shutouts last season for the New York Sirens.

Both teams had two power play opportunities during the game. Looking ahead, Minnesota will face Ottawa on Tuesday, and Seattle will host New York on Wednesday.
