The B.C. provincial court has sentenced a 42-year-old man to five months in jail for sharing 18 videos and 80 photos on Pornhub without his former partner’s permission. Judge Robin McQuillan’s recent ruling revealed that the accused, whose identity is protected under a publication ban, began a relationship with the victim in 2020, which lasted over two years intermittently.

During their time together, the man recorded multiple videos of their intimate moments, some with consent and others without, but the victim never agreed to their online dissemination. Despite the breakup, the man persistently tried to contact the victim, who eventually blocked his number. In March 2023, he sent her a Pornhub profile displaying her picture and alias, confessing to uploading the content.

Upon discovering the profile, the victim promptly alerted the authorities, leading to the identification of the explicit material as distinctly recognizable. The videos and photos were removed by Pornhub in November 2023 following police intervention. McQuillan sentenced the man to five months in prison and 18 months of probation, emphasizing the calculated and retaliatory nature of his actions, categorizing them as particularly reprehensible compared to other cases.

According to the judgment, the man established the Pornhub account in August 2022, with the videos accumulating over 10,000 views. The police investigation revealed that the man linked his banking information to the account, indicating a potential financial incentive based on view counts. The court imposed a publication ban on the man’s identity to safeguard the victim’s anonymity.

While most uploads occurred between September and November 2022, some materials were posted as late as March 2023. The ruling highlighted the establishment of the account with personal financial details, hinting at a profit motive based on viewership thresholds. The publication ban was enacted under the Criminal Code to shield the victim’s identity.
