Toronto’s Elaine Chuli stopped 20 shots but couldn’t prevent her team (4-0-3-4) from suffering a third consecutive loss. Kaltounkova redirected a shot from Jincy Roese into the net just 2 minutes and 50 seconds into the second period.
Shortly after, Kaltounkova had a penalty shot opportunity following a scramble in front of the Toronto net, but she hit the post. However, she sealed the win with an empty-net goal in the final seconds of the game.
In a challenging game for both teams, Toronto struggled to convert scoring chances, failing to break through Osborne’s defense. Despite a scrappy performance, the Sirens capitalized on a crucial opportunity to secure the victory.
Kaltounkova’s pivotal goal provided the necessary cushion for New York to hold off Toronto and clinch the win. Daryl Watts entered the game with an impressive point streak, nearing the league record set by Sarah Fillier from the previous season.
Looking ahead, the Sirens will face the Minnesota Frost on January 16, while the Sceptres are set to play against the Boston Fleet on January 14.
