Lindsey Vonn, at 41 years old, is feeling stronger than ever with an additional twelve pounds of muscle, fine-tuned equipment, and a new top-notch coach. She showcased her prowess by leading the pack in the first downhill training session of the season. Vonn is set to kick off her Olympic racing season in St. Moritz, Switzerland, with two World Cup downhills and a super-G.

Speaking at a press conference in Switzerland, Vonn expressed her peak physical condition and the absence of any bodily discomfort, attributing it to her hard work and dedication. After coming out of retirement last season and undergoing knee surgery with titanium inserts, Vonn aimed to enhance her strength, gaining 12 pounds over the summer through rigorous training and diet control.

Vonn, eyeing participation in three events at the Milan-Cortina Winter Games, including downhill, super-G, and the new team combined race, feels exceptionally fit for her age and is optimistic about her performance. Holding World Cup records with 43 downhill wins and 28 super-G victories, Vonn’s 82 World Cup triumphs rank her third all-time.

During the recent downhill training in St. Moritz, Vonn outpaced her competitors, finishing ahead of Kajsa Vickhoff Lie and Sofia Goggia. With more training sessions and races scheduled, Vonn is determined to excel in the upcoming events before the Olympics. Joining forces with former World Cup champion Aksel Lund Svindal and focusing on a series of speed weekends ahead, Vonn is geared up for a remarkable season ahead.
