Olympic snowboarder Berenice Wicki will not participate in the upcoming Milan-Cortina Winter Games due to a recurring anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in her left knee, according to the Swiss team. Wicki, who finished seventh in the snowboard halfpipe event at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, where United States athlete Chloe Kim claimed the gold medal, sustained the injury during a training session at Secret Garden in China. Following her return to Switzerland for medical evaluation, it was confirmed that Wicki had torn her ACL once again. The 23-year-old athlete is scheduled for season-ending surgery next week, as announced by the Swiss ski federation. Wicki had initially injured her knee in February, which caused her to miss the freestyle skiing world championships held the following month in Switzerland.
