New England Patriots’ star wide receiver Stefon Diggs is currently facing criminal charges, including felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery, following an incident with his former private chef, according to police reports revealed after a recent court hearing in Dedham, Massachusetts.

Diggs’ attorney, David Meier, vehemently denied the allegations, stating that they are unsubstantiated and uncorroborated. Meier attributed the accusations to a financial dispute between Diggs and his ex-employee that remained unresolved to the employee’s satisfaction.

The New England Patriots released a statement expressing their support for Diggs amidst the legal controversy, affirming their solidarity with the player.

A police report detailed the chef’s account of an altercation that took place in December when she confronted Diggs about unpaid wages. She alleged that Diggs struck her and attempted to choke her during the confrontation, causing her to fear for her safety.

Despite initial reluctance, the chef eventually decided to press charges against Diggs last week, citing the severity of the incident as the reason for her change of heart.

Stefon Diggs, known for his exceptional performance as a wide receiver, has been a key player for the Patriots, contributing significantly to the team’s success this season. However, off-field controversies, including a previous incident involving a questionable video, have marred his tenure with the team.

Diggs’ legal situation is ongoing, and the Patriots have indicated their intention to handle any off-field issues internally.
