SeatGeek Canada has been hit with two additional fines by the Ontario government for allegedly violating a recent law that limits the resale of event tickets to their original face value. According to the province’s consumer protection website, the fines imposed on the ticket resale platform earlier this month amount to a combined total of $22,500.
The first fine, totaling $15,000, was issued for purportedly listing a ticket for sale or facilitating its sale at a price exceeding the resale limit. The second fine, amounting to $7,500, was imposed for allegedly not disclosing the full ticket price when purchased from a primary seller.
Both SeatGeek Canada and the province have not provided immediate responses regarding the specific events that led to the fines or whether the company intends to contest the penalties. Earlier in August, the company was fined $25,000 by the province for similar violations.
