Sultan + Shepard, a renowned electronic duo with Grammy and Juno nominations, have been captivating audiences with their high-energy live performances for over ten years. However, Sultan, also known as Ossama Al Sarraf, has recently disclosed on Instagram that he now relies on supplemental oxygen during shows due to a medical condition called pulmonary fibrosis.

In his social media post, Sultan shared that pulmonary fibrosis causes scarring in the lungs, restricting their full expansion and resulting in breathing difficulties. He explained how daily life remains mostly unchanged, but the use of supplemental oxygen is necessary during intense activities like exercising or performing, particularly in high-altitude locations.

Initially hesitant to acknowledge his condition, Sultan admitted that discussing health challenges and disabilities can be emotionally draining. Nevertheless, he emphasized the importance of transparency, aiming to provide support and solidarity to others facing similar health struggles.

Assuring fans of his well-being, Sultan expressed his eagerness to reconnect with them in the near future. Despite his health situation, the duo has a series of upcoming shows, including appearances at events like Montreal’s Piknic Électronik on June 21 and Vancouver’s FIFA Fan Fest on July 19. Additionally, they recently dropped a new single titled “Twilight” in early May.
