U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin had agreed to participate in Trump’s Board of Peace initiative, which aims to address global conflicts. However, Putin swiftly responded, stating that the invitation was still under consideration. Trump confirmed the acceptance during a press conference at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, following a meeting with NATO chief Mark Rutte.
Shortly after Trump’s statement, Putin informed the Russian security council that the foreign ministry was currently reviewing the proposal and would provide a response in due time. Trump defended his decision to invite Russia, emphasizing his desire to involve all nations, particularly those led by influential figures.
“I have some controversial individuals on board, but they are effective and hold significant sway,” Trump acknowledged during the announcement.
