U.S. President Donald Trump has once again captured attention with his recent suggestion of making Canada the 51st state, unpredictable interactions with global leaders, and efforts to test the boundaries of presidential authority. While his actions have sparked criticism from Canadians since the start of his second term in January, a group of teenagers from London, Ontario, has found inspiration in creating a new board game.

Named “American Dictator,” the game aims to satirize what the group perceives as questionable decisions and behaviors by Trump. For instance, the game humorously references Trump’s proposal to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, his focus on a “Big Beautiful Bill” related to taxes and spending, and his involvement in high-profile court cases.

In “American Dictator,” players strive to acquire and control American cities where they can develop a golf course, resort, or tower. The gameplay, reminiscent of Monopoly, includes elements such as trapping opponents in a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility, leveraging a Supreme Court justice to manipulate rules, and engaging in casino activities for financial gains. Additionally, players must navigate through a deck of cards featuring dubious decisions and pay penalties to others.

The game also reflects the trend of Canadians avoiding travel to the U.S., with one card leading to a player’s hotel bankruptcy due to dwindling Canadian visitors. Co-creator Ben Whitmill emphasized the game’s humorous take on Trump’s actions, stating that the decisions featured in the game, though seemingly surreal, serve as a means to shed light on the president’s conduct.

The teenagers behind “American Dictator” view the game as an opportunity to engage youth in political discussions and foster awareness in a lighthearted manner. They believe that through the game’s narrative, they can impart important messages about standing up for what is right and defending the country’s values.

Since its recent launch at $50 per copy, the game has garnered 25 purchases, primarily from non-American buyers. The group plans to expand their portfolio by developing more geopolitical-themed games, such as a version of Cards Against Humanity named “Cards Against Democracy.” The project, supported by family members, offers additional merchandise like T-shirts and mugs, available for purchase online.

The creators express a desire for President Trump to experience “American Dictator” and are keen to observe his reaction. Ultimately, they hope that players will grasp the game’s underlying message of advocating for justice and safeguarding national interests.
